Welsh Year 1 Beginners
Length of Course
- Evening:-15 weeks @ 2 hours ( 2 sessions in academic year)
- Day:- 12 weeks @" 2½ hours (2 sessions in academic year) and 6 weeks@ 2 ½ weeks
Content
Welsh is very much a live language and has the advantage that you can practise in live situations. There is also plenty of back up for the learner in a range of media eg. T.V, radio, Internet resources, books, magazines, tapes, videos, day schools as well as socially geared events specifically for learners. Tutor-organisers based in Mold and Llanrwst welcome enquiries and offer support. This course is geared to spoken Welsh. It avoids the grammatical approach and begins from the beginning, assuming no previous knowledge.
The course teaches
- greetings
- discussing where you live, phone number, work etc.
- belongings - home, family
- likes and dislikes, leisure .
- time and money
- wants and needs
- requests
- the weather
- describing people
- starting on the past tense
Method of Assessment
Revision lessons at intervals during the course include informal assessment tasks. Credits may be achieved from Agored Cymru which is part of the Open college Network

No previous knowledge
Follow On Courses
After completing this course students may progress to Year 2
Cost
Part time students will be advised of costs on application. In addition to course fees a fee is charged for course file (essential) and C.D if required.
