Welsh Year 4

Length of Course

  • Evening:-15 weeks @ 2 hours ( 2 sessions in academic year)
  • Day:- 12 weeks @" 2½ hours (2 sessions in academic year) and 6 weeks@ 2 ½ weeks

Content

Welsh is very much a live language and has the advantage that you can practise in live situations. There is also plenty of back up for the learner in a range of media eg. T.V, radio, internet resources, books, magazines, tapes, videos, day schools as well as socially geared events specifically for learners. . Tutor-organisers based in Mold and Llanrwst welcome enquiries and offer support.

The course is geared to spoken Welsh. It is aimed at learners who have attended years 1, 2 and 3 but feel they need a little more confidence in speaking Welsh before moving on to a further course. It is also suitable for those with a good basic knowledge of the language who have not practised the language for a time and would like to restore their confidence in holding a basic conversation.

The course revises grammar already learnt, whilst also introducing some new tenses and constructions, whilst the emphasis is still on spoken Welsh. Although the course is obviously more advanced the same informal approach is our aim.

Method of Assessment

Revision lessons at intervals during the course include informal assessment tasks. Credits may be achieved from Agored Cymru which is part of the Open College Network. Students may also sit the WJEC Sylfaen (Foundation Level ) exam

Entry Requirements

The course follows on from the Year 3course, but is also suitable stepping stone for those who feel that they need more practice.

Follow On Courses

After completing this course students may progress to Year 5.

Cost

Part time students will be advised of costs on application. In addition to course fees a fee is charged for course file (essential) and C.D if required.
